Sewing Identity

A conversation with Dr. Addie Martindale

Clothing is more than protection from prying eyes or the climate. Though often recognized as a form of self-expression, apparel experiences aren’t always equal and can differentially affect non-traditional, minority, and underrepresented consumers and raise issues of sustainability. This week, Dr. Addie Martindale, assistant professor of Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design at Georgia Southern University, joins Leigh to discuss her work and her upcoming talk “Faux Pockets, Sequins, and Short Shorts: Gender Disparity in Childrenswear” that launches the Women’s and Gender Studies Research Colloquium.
