Sat. 5 pm ET- Savannah Art Association will join us.  Carol is also the founder and director of the International Student Climate Art Project, known as ISCAP.  ISCAP collects student art from around the world for exhibit on their website.  You’ll find entries from Brazil, Argentina, Germany, The Czech Republic, Watkinsville, Saint Louis, and many other places (including Savannah). Musically, it’s Drum Week on WRUU and When The Moon Sings is ready.  We’ll start with Frank Sinatra’s iconic version of I’ve Got You Under My Fin and then go to Kay Kyser and his 1939 classic Three Little Fishies.  And then…Not that kind of drum?  Oh, okay.  Instead, we’ll have JL Hannah’s Sum Voices, the Steve Gadd Band, Evelyn Glennie, and Airto Moriera.  Join us. 05/11/2019

Sat. 1 pm ET- Dialogues des Carmélites is an opera in three acts, divided into twelve scenes with linking orchestral interludes, with music and libretto by Francis Poulenc, completed in 1956. The composer’s second opera, Poulenc wrote the libretto after the work of the same name by Georges Bernanos. The opera tells a fictionalised version of the story of the Martyrs of Compiègne, Carmelite nuns who, in 1794 during the closing days of the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution, were guillotined in Paris for refusing to renounce their vocation. The world première of the opera occurred (in Italian translation) on 26 January 1957 at La Scala in Milan. 05/11/2019

Fri. 12:06 pm ET-There is an immense body of literature around graduates. Some of it is fiction, like “Goodbye Columbus” or “The Graduate”. There are lists of books that people want graduates to read, and “Oh The Places You’ll Go”, by Doctor Seuss is on almost all of them (and those fiction books are on none of them). There are self-help books about how to get through this, and there tons of articles that practically demand that you become depressed about graduating. This week, Leigh Rich and P.T. Bridgeport will examine books for and about graduates, and pick a few that they think might actually be meaningful. Tune in this week on Friday at 12:06 pm, as Leigh and P.T. wonder if the right answer is still “plastics”.

Fri. 11 am ET-Ever since there’s been music, drums have kept the time; but in so many cases, they’ve become a big part of the music or the only music. From Toto’s nod in their song “Africa” to the drum-heavy artistry in Japanese taiku groups, drums are a fundamental part of everyone’s music. This week, Brian Renner and P.T. Bridgeport present a range of percussion pros, from international playing to favorite US drummers. Join us this Friday at 11 am for drumming at it’s finest. 05/10/2019
