Sat. 5:30 pm ET- On April 13th, The Metropolitan Opera will perform Siegfried, a very long production. In the last act, Siegfried rescues Brunnhilde from the ring of fire, and that will burn, burn, burn until about 5:30. When the fire department leaves, P.T. Bridgeport will chat with artist Kathy Varadi about the show Anthropocene. In our era, atmospheric, geologic, hydrologic, biospheric and other earth system processes are altered by humans. What does that mean? Join P.T. and Kathy for a discussion. The show will run at Alexander Hall, 688 Indian Street from May 4th to May 26th. Alex Muir, Advocacy Coordinator, One Hundred Miles will remind us of the Choosing to Lead Conference being held this weekend at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center Conference and offer insight regarding the Georgia General Assembly’s activity. Tue 8 pm. ET-This week on Contemporary Classics on Tuesday April 9thfrom 8-10pm is my interview with Canadian-American composer Harry Stafylakis. Harry is the composer in residence at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the co-curator of the Winnipeg New Music Festival. I met him at this year’s Winnipeg New Music Festival. We talk about two of his works: Brittle Fracture and String Quartet #4 –Aftermath. In addition I will be playing John Adams Harmonielehre, which was on the first concert of this year’s Winnipeg New Music Festival and was on the first concert of the first Winnipeg New Music Festival almost 3 decades ago. 04/09/2019
