A Savannah Lexicon double bill today. Owens-Thomas House Curator Shannon Browning-Mullis will start things off a description of the thoughtful reinterpretation of the now renamed Owens-Thomas house & Slave Quarters that provides a broader view incorporating not only the Owens family, but also the enslaved people who lived and worked there in the early 1800s, and the institution of slavery itself.

Part II of today’s Sav Lex will bring Cody Shelley, Foundation Manager, Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home back into the studio. The institution’s Ursrey Memorial Lecture will feature noted National Book Award-winning author Charles Frazier (Cold Mountain) at the Trinity Methodist Church on Friday, November 14, 7 p.m.  Expect good, literate discussion and a little reading from Mr. Frazier’s latest book, Varina: A Novel, a work based on the First Lady of the Confederate States of America.
